Audition Requirements

Repertoire List

•Repertoire: perform two contrasting styles, one slow and lyrical and one faster and technical

•Repertoire: jazz players must demonstrate classical music ability

•Repertoire: percussionists should audition on concert snare drum and a mallet keyboard instrument; timpani etude or drum set styles are welcome but not required

•Repertoire: scales up to 5 sharps and 5 flats may be requested

•Repertoire: short sight-reading exercise included

Application Logistics

•Apply and be accepted to Oregon State University

•Submit the BM music admission and scholarship application through Acceptd

•Fall 2027 OSU applicants should submit the university application by February 1, 2027 for priority consideration

•Music application fee waivers are handled through Acceptd support before submission

•Students not admitted directly to the BM may join BA/BS Music and re-audition the following year

•Students may retake the audition one time to convert from BA/BS Music to BM

Audition Expectations

•Live audition required for BM admission and scholarship consideration

•In-person or virtual audition options are available on the scheduled audition dates

•Applicants select an audition date and time by performance area after completing the Acceptd application

•Interview about musical background and aspirations included

Decisions

•February audition applicants are notified by mid-March

•Acceptance deadline: April 20

•No music admission or scholarship result is issued until the applicant is admitted to OSU

•Applications may be accepted past scheduled audition dates, with additional auditions arranged as needed

Scholarship Info

Music Scholarships

•Performance-based scholarships are available to all interested students, with funds primarily awarded to music majors and minors

•OSU Music expects to award more than $250K to new and continuing music students for 2027

•Awards may be one-year or multi-year agreements

•Scholarship expectations can include studio lessons, ensemble participation, declaring a music major or minor, maintaining GPA, and full-time enrollment

•Students must be admitted to OSU before scholarship offers can be made
