Audition Process
•Bullet: Students interested in majoring in Theatre must audition for program admission
•Bullet: Submit the Talent Audition Submission Form, choosing Theatre as your major and an area of interest
•Bullet: Auditions may be submitted by video but must contain all aspects of the audition requirements
•Bullet: Auditions may also be scheduled in-person when faculty are available
◦Sub-bullet: During the summer months a video submission works best
•Bullet: Students who have not yet applied to ORU can apply through the university application
Audition Expectations
•Bullet: The form lists audition requirements by area of interest and does not separate BA from BFA applicants
•Bullet: If recording a video, be sure to introduce yourself, your major and your area of interest
•Bullet: Theatre Performance:
◦Sub-bullet: Please prepare/memorize 2 sixty-second monologues, 1 comedic and 1 dramatic OR 1 sixty-second monologue and 32 bars of a musical theatre song (accompaniment required. No acapella, please)
◦Sub-bullet: Record your audition package (both monologues/song plus an introduction telling us who you are and the titles of your pieces) via your smartphone or another recording device
•Bullet: Classroom & Community:
◦Sub-bullet: Please prepare/memorize 1 sixty-second monologue & prepare a portfolio/slideshow of photos & descriptions from your previous theatre work. (may include work from Church productions, ministries, missions, after-school programs, outreach programs, children's theatre leadership experiences, Fine Arts, etc.)
◦Sub-bullet: Record your audition package (monologue plus an introduction telling us who you are and the titles of your pieces) followed by a recording of yourself explaining why you want to pursue BFA Theatre: Classroom & Community degree at ORU. You may use your smartphone or another recording device
•Bullet: Production & Design:
◦Sub-bullet: Please prepare a portfolio/slideshow of photos and descriptions from your previous theatre work (may also be work from Church productions, Fine Arts, etc.)
◦Sub-bullet: Record yourself discussing one of your theatre experiences and also explaining why you want to pursue a degree in theatre production & design at ORU. You may use your smartphone or another recording device
•Bullet: Please upload your video or portfolio to a shareable platform such as YouTube, Dropbox, or Vimeo and provide the URL on the form
