Audition Requirements

Songs

Requirements

•Three Memorized Works from Classical Vocal Repertoire

•No pop, Broadway, or contemporary Christian selections

•At least one selection must be in Italian, German, Spanish, or French

•Applicants evaluated on poise, pitch, breathing, phrasing, expression, and tone

Sight-Reading

•Each applicant will be asked to sight-read two excerpts

Accompaniment

•Bring cleanly copied music, hole-punched and placed in a binder

•An accompanist is provided by the school

Additional Materials

Theory Placement Exam

•Taken on audition day (in-person) or via proctored Zoom (video)

•Determines theory course placement — does not affect music school acceptance

•Can be retaken up to two times

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Step 1: Apply to OSU

•Step 2: Complete the Greenwood School of Music Audition Request Form

•Step 3: You will receive a phone call/text to schedule your audition date and time

•Auditions are 10-20 minutes long

•Vocal auditionees will sight-read after performing

Audition Expectations

•Check in anytime between 8:30am and 4:00pm

•Practice rooms available on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors to warm up

•Bring cleanly copied music in a binder for the accompanist

•Upload to YouTube as unlisted — email link to GSMAuditions@okstate.edu

•Clear full-body frame showing face and hands

•Perform in a quiet, private space without live audience

•State your name, hometown, interest in music, and repertoire being performed
