MTCP Song Option C

Either Option A or Option B

Option A — Two Songs (Pre/Post 1970)

•One song written before 1970 (musical theater, Golden Age, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk, etc.)

•One song written after 1970 (musical theatre, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk, etc.)

•Songs should contrast in style

Option B — Two Songs (MT + Contrasting)

•One musical theater song from any time period

•One song of your choice from any time period and in any style (musical theater, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk, etc.)

Tips

•Consider contrast: fast vs slow tempo, sustained melodic vs speech-like singing, dramatic vs comedic, belt vs head/falsetto mix

•Use YouTube tracks, recorded accompaniment, or apps like Harmony Helper if no live accompanist available

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

•One Monologue from a Published Play

•From a published play or written by a professional writer whose plays have been produced

•Choose age-appropriate material (within 5-10 years of actual age)

•Select monologues authentic to your culture, background, and lived experience

•Active monologues work best — real-time situations with an imaginary scene partner

•Avoid monologues relying on extreme emotions

Dance

MTCP Dance Option A

Dance Call

•Show your best version of dancing or moving

•Must include at least one turn, one jump, and one kick (or suitable rotation, elevation, and extension)

•Choose steps and movement that highlight your strengths

Style & Format

•Any dance discipline: jazz, ballet, tap, modern, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, or styles beyond American and Euro-Western

•Solo video required — can include show, competition, or other performance if clearly featured alone

•Self-choreographed movement acceptable

•MTCP resource videos available for applicants without access to choreographed combo

Ballet

MTCP Ballet Option B

•Ballet video optional

Optional Wild Card Submission

•Share anything that showcases your unique talents and personality

•Can be any performance medium — singing, dancing, acting, spoken word, instrumental, or other

•Complete the Theatre Student Interest Form to express interest in BFA audition

Audition Process

•Complete the Theatre Student Interest Form to begin the audition process

•You will receive an email with MTCP video submission instructions

•You must have applied to OSU before your prescreen will be processed

•Digital prescreen required — follow MTCP time limits and camera setup guidelines

•Invitation-only following prescreen review

Scholarship Info
