Audition Process
•Apply to OBU first; music study admission and financial aid require university acceptance
•Submit the Music Application (separate from the university application)
•Audition dates correspond to Bison Days; faculty will contact you to schedule after receiving your application
•Instrumental Track applicants audition for the music faculty using OBU’s Instrumental requirements
Audition Expectations
•Wind, string, and percussion requirements are listed by instrument family on OBU’s audition page
•Sight-reading examples are provided at the audition
•Jazz Orchestra applicants should prepare an appropriate selection from the High School Jazz Ensemble folder
•Drum set applicants should be able to play several styles including swing, bossa nova, samba, and shuffle
Decisions
•You will receive two notices by mail from the Division of Music
•First notice: your readiness to pursue a degree in music at OBU
•Second notice: financial aid offered by the Division of Music
