All prospective music majors must audition regardless of performance area

What's The Process

Audition Process

Apply to OBU first; music study admission and financial aid require university acceptance

Submit the Music Application (separate from the university application)

Audition dates correspond to Bison Days; faculty will contact you to schedule after receiving your application

Audition for the music faculty on your principal area (voice or piano)

Audition Expectations

Prepare the repertoire and technical requirements for your principal area (see Voice or Keyboard requirements)

Piano primary: two to three contrasting pieces or movements, at least one from memory; sight-read an excerpt; be prepared to discuss your goals

Bring a repertoire list of solo pieces and copies of your sheet music for the accompanist

After Your Audition

You will receive two notices by mail from the Division of Music

First notice: your readiness to pursue a degree in music at OBU

Second notice: financial aid offered by the Division of Music
