Monologues

TWO CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES

•Combined time limit: 3 minutes

•Should display the breadth of your talent

Video Option

•Record two contrasting monologues in a single take, no edits

•Begin with a standard slate: greeting, name, grade level, current school, and hometown

•Conclude by saying "thank you" and restating your name

•Wardrobe, background, visual/sound quality, verbal preparation, and onscreen presence will be evaluated

•Upload to YouTube (unlisted) and send link to john.dement@okbu.edu

•For technical theatre scholarship applicants

•Highlight previous work in printed or digital format

•Prepare a 2-3 minute portfolio presentation

What's The Process

Audition Process

•No audition required for program admission

•Audition and interview are for scholarship consideration only

•Apply to OBU first; financial aid cannot be offered until accepted to the university

•Submit the Theatre Scholarship Application

•Interview dates correspond to Bison Days on campus

•If campus visit is not possible, a video audition option is available

Audition Expectations

•Performance applicants: two contrasting monologues + interview reviewing previous work and career goals

•Technical theatre applicants: portfolio presentation + interview about career goals

•Theatre education applicants: brief teaching demonstration (2-3 minutes) + interview about teaching ambitions

Theatre Scholarships

•Available to qualifying students with outstanding talent in performance, technical theatre, or theatre education

•Only theatre majors qualify for financial assistance

•Written recommendations optional but encouraged (email to thea@okbu.edu)

•Recommendations from high school drama teachers, community theatre directors, or church drama leaders are helpful
