•BM Composition is chaired by Stephen Hartke, Professor of Composition, a 2013 Grammy winner for Best Contemporary Classical Composition ("Meanwhile")
•Additional composition faculty: Michael Frazier, Assistant Professor of Composition; Jesse Jones, Associate Professor of Composition; Soomin Kim, Visiting Assistant Professor of Composition
•Coursework trains students to present musical ideas clearly through written notation, including Composition Class I, Survey of Compositional Forms and Structures, and Counterpoint II
Performance & Productions
•Students hear their works performed at student-composer concerts, formal recitals, and large conservatory-ensemble readings — composers may conduct their own pieces with the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra
