Program Recognition
•Piano Pedagogy is a standalone Bachelor of Music track at Oakland, distinct from the Piano Pedagogy concentration offered inside the BM Piano Performance, BA Music, and Music Education degrees.
•The Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, and the track is a 120-credit, four-year, in-person program within the College of Arts and Sciences.
Training
•Keyboard teaching study runs through the piano faculty — Tian Tian, Rebecca Happel, and I-Chen Yeh — alongside keyboard-class lecturer Lois Kaarre, combining individually mentored piano performance with a dedicated pedagogy focus.
•Students have access to more than 100 public concerts each year and to Oakland's Detroit Symphony Orchestra affiliate faculty in other applied areas.
Professional Development
•Scholarships and support are available for students presenting at professional conferences and festivals.
