•Bullet: General is the base track of Oakland's Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Choral and General Music, combining choral conducting and general-music pedagogy with performance coursework.
•Bullet: Choral Activities Director Michael Mitchell leads the choral-conducting sequence, alongside music-education faculty Cat Bennett, Pamela Klena, and Colleen McNickle.
•Bullet: The program pairs music-specific teaching courses — rather than generic education coursework — with more than 100 hours of community engagement before student teaching, preparing graduates for the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification.
Professional Development
•Bullet: Students can perform in Oakland Chorale under Mitchell's direction and Opera Workshop, and have access to more than 150 music-education and performance events each year.
•Bullet: Graduates are prepared for K-12 teaching, performing and conducting, and studio or accompanist work.
