•Essay 1: how the first-year foundation courses (music theory and aural skills, keyboard training, music business, liberal arts, and economics) connect with each other and with the future music industry, referencing career areas you are interested in
•Essay 2: research and outline the pros and cons of at least two music-discovery avenues, contrasting the process of discovering a new song versus finding a new artist
Statement (Transfer Applicants Only)
•Cover letter as a PDF or Word document with your name, the college you attend and your major, the number of university semesters completed, and why you want to leave your current institution for the NYU Music Business program
Resume
•One page showing your school, any work/internship/volunteer positions, and musical/extracurricular activities
Video
•Required music skills video with all components in one single video, each sung a cappella: a one-octave major scale ascending and descending in any key; one verse and one chorus of Somewhere Over the Rainbow; and a verse and a chorus of any existing recorded song with a singable melody (no spoken word)
•The video assesses your ability to carry a tune and stay on pitch — vocal quality, lighting, and production values are not evaluated; an additional music performance recording may optionally be submitted to further highlight your musical abilities
