-A jazz standard (e.g., There Is No Greater Love, Four, There Will Never Be Another You, Have You Met Miss Jones, Take the 'A' Train): saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and violin play the melody and two choruses of improvisation; guitar, piano, and vibraphone play the melody, one chorus of accompaniment behind a soloist, and two choruses of improvisation; bass and drum set accompany the melody and one chorus behind an improvising soloist and improvise a two-chorus solo
-A standard ballad (e.g., Misty, In A Sentimental Mood, Body & Soul): play the melody and one chorus of improvisation; bass provides accompaniment for the melody in an appropriate ballad feel and improvises one chorus; drum set demonstrates brush playing behind the melody and one chorus of improvisation
-A straight-8th/Latin tune (e.g., Ceora, Blue Bossa, Desafinado, Recordame): play the melody, accompaniment, and improvised choruses with the same role breakdown as the jazz standard
-A solo transcription from your instrument: one or two choruses (minimum 32 bars) played along with the original recording — this does not need to be memorized (all other repertoire must be performed from memory)
