What's The Process

Audition Process

•Prepare two contrasting works or movements on the requested major instrument

•Select literature that demonstrates technical skill and musical artistry

•An instrument and accompanist may be provided with sufficient notice

•Recordings are accepted for students living more than 125 miles from campus

•Virtual auditions or special appointments may be available

Percussion

•Demonstrate technical proficiency and perform a solo in two categories: snare drum, mallets, timpani, drum set, or world percussion

Diagnostic Exam

•Complete a 30-minute music theory diagnostic covering notation, key signatures, scales, intervals, rhythm, meter, triads, inversions, and musical terms
