Training
•The BA General concentration provides a nonperformance music degree within a broad liberal-arts plan, with core study in musicianship, theory, and history plus music electives chosen across Bienen's offerings.
•The catalog requires 45 total units and gives the General path freedom to use its concentration coursework across music rather than locking students into one subfield.
Performance & Productions
•Even without a performance major or private lessons built into the degree, students study in a school that supports 17 major ensembles and presents more than 400 concerts and events annually.
Degree Flexibility
•Applicants enter the general BA Music degree and declare a concentration after enrollment, exploration of courses, and consultation with faculty and Music Student Affairs. That structure suits students who want music depth with substantial room for another academic interest.
