Training
•Bullet: Keyboard Arts Conducting track (17 sh) trains conducting from the keyboard across diverse genres and repertoire through Applied Conducting (3 semesters), Applied Piano or Applied Organ (3 sh over 2-3 semesters), Practicum Studio/Choral/Opera Accompanying Techniques (taken four times), and Lyric Diction: Latin and English, plus all three Performer's Survey courses spanning Art Song, Opera/Musical Theatre, and Choral Literature Cantata/Mass repertoire
•Bullet: Collaborative pianists prepare Brahms's "Standchen," Debussy's "Il pleure dans mon coeur" or "Mandoline," the opening of Strauss's "Morgen," a 20th- or 21st-century vocal art song, and a solo piano work of their choosing, with memorization optional
Professional Development
•Bullet: Graduate students are encouraged to gain real-world experience through internships with partner organizations including Bella Voce – Chicago, Chicago Fringe Opera, The Musical Offering, The Voice Lab, and Trinity United Methodist Church
