All incoming students are eligible for music scholarships regardless of major

All-State musicians receive a music scholarship automatically without an official audition

Admitted students take a music theory & aural-skills placement diagnostic — for course placement only, not admission

Transfer Pathway

NWU Pathways partner agreements and published course equivalencies support transfer into BM Music Education. Transfer applicants must audition for music-major status and complete NWU teacher-candidacy, field-experience, and student-teaching requirements.

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

Audition on your principal instrument or voice on campus during a visit day, or upload a recorded audition through the online application

Program should be no more than 10 minutes total

Post-Enrollment

Music education students must be accepted into the Teacher Education Program (TEP)

TEP acceptance interviews are held each October and March

Requires 100 hours of field experience and passing the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST)

Must be completed before enrolling in student teaching
