Post-Enrollment Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

No audition is required for the initial application. The optional scholarship review (audition) is separate from the internal audition gate students complete after enrollment.Gateway source

Transfer Pathway

For the BS Performance emphasis, NAU requires an internal audition but says transfer students may request Theatre Department waivers for one or more prerequisite requirements. The BS page also allows up to half of the major requirements as transfer credit.

What's The Process

Audition Process

Internal audition required after completing Acting I and Script Analysis

Students enter as Theatre majors and audition to declare the Performance emphasis

Gateway audition is an on-campus departmental process

Optional theatre scholarship consideration requires a separate Acceptd scholarship application by March 1 for full consideration

In-person scholarship audition is held the first Saturday in March at 1 PM in Studio Theater

Audition Expectations

Scholarship audition materials include two contrasting monologues under 2 minutes total

Additional scholarship materials include letter of intent, resume/photo, recommendations, transcript, and FERPA form
