Essay

Required typed 250-word essay describing why you wish to attend Musicians Institute's Bachelor of Music degree program

Letters of Recommendation

Two required recommendation letters: one academic letter and one music letter, submitted in email body or as Word/PDF attachments

Transcript

Required English high school diploma, GED, accepted university degree documentation, or applicable college transcript

Scores / GPA

Domestic bachelor applicants submit SAT or ACT scores or college transcripts if applicable

International applicants submit TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE Academic results unless eligible for an English-language test waiver

Photo ID and proof of high school diploma, GED, or accepted university degree are required as part of the general MI application

Transfer Pathway

MI evaluates prior general-education and music coursework for Bachelor of Music transfer credit. Music credit depends on placement in private lessons, ensembles, harmony, theory, ear training, and reading. MI Associate of Arts Performance graduates with at least a 3.30 GPA have a published route into the BM, subject to all other admission requirements.

MI's guidebook says bachelor degree applicants do not need to submit the recording requirements listed for associate and certificate programs

After bachelor applicant documents are reviewed, MI emails a Bachelor Entrance Exam

The application is not considered for final approval until the Bachelor Entrance Exam has been reviewed

Completed applications are reviewed for acceptance on an ongoing basis

Class sizes are limited, and placement priority is given in order of acceptance
