Audition Requirements

Dance

Video Audition

•Learn the faculty-taught ballet, modern, and jazz phrases provided after registration

•Select and record two of the three phrases

•Submit a video of a recent solo choreography

In-Person Audition

•Take ballet and modern technique classes taught by MTSU Dance faculty

•Present a solo of 90 seconds or less; it may be original choreography or an excerpt choreographed by someone else

•Applicants must place into the appropriate level in both ballet and modern technique

Application Logistics

•Apply to MTSU through the university application

•Complete the Dance Major Audition Form separately on the department website

•Acceptance into the Dance Program does not guarantee university admission - both are required

Track of Study

•Performance and Choreography track is selected as part of the Dance BS curriculum

•Track selection occurs after admission to the program
