Repertoire List
•Prepare JAIM audition repertoire for your specific instrument area: winds/brass, guitar, piano, bass, drumset, voice, or woodwinds.
•Winds/brass repertoire: two major and two minor scales with arpeggios (one octave, from memory), plus melody and two improvised choruses on a blues or jazz standard.
•Guitar repertoire: maj7/7/min7/min7b5/dim voicings in all keys, comping in a jazz style, and a 12-bar blues with melody, comping, and improvisation over a standard.
•Piano repertoire: a jazz standard or blues, one solo-piano piece in any style, and ii-V-I progressions with major scales in C and F.
•Bass repertoire: two-octave major scales in F, G, C, and Ab; one-octave minor scales in C, D, and F; walking bass and solo over a 12-bar blues; and a contrasting non-walking style example.
•Drumset repertoire: a bright 4/4 swing tune, a straight-eighth groove of your choice, and rudiments such as double-stroke roll, paradiddle, flam accent, or flam tap.
•Voice repertoire: one memorized jazz piece, a second memorized contrasting piece, and melodic/rhythmic call-and-response.
