Audition Requirements

Songs

TWO CONTRASTING SONGS, 3 min each max

Must show two contrasting vocal approaches
-One should be a more classical/legit musical theatre style
-The other can be from a musical or any genre of your choice
Songs must give you the opportunity to act through them

REPERTOIRE

The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology (6 volumes) is an excellent source — available for free download
You may choose work from any musical
Monologues

TWO CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES, 2 min each max

ONE PROSE SPEECH from a play written after 2000
ONE VERSE SPEECH from a play written before 1800
-Shakespeare, Elizabethan, Jacobean, Ancient Greek, Roman, Restoration, or international equivalent
-Must be in poetic verse, not a modern prose adaptation

MATERIAL SELECTION

Must be from published plays — not poems, novels, films, or TV scripts
Character close to your own age
Performed in your own accent
You may choose a speech in any gender
Dance

DANCE CALL

In-person: participate in a workshop learning and performing a short routine
Online: submit a self-tape of a short dance routine and technical exercise
-Choreography and instructions sent upon application
-Routine takes limited space into consideration

APPLICATION PROCESS

Apply directly via Mountview's online portal
Applications open in early autumn each year
Early application strongly encouraged — course may fill before deadline

ELIGIBILITY

Must be aged 18 or turn 18 within the first term
Previous academic qualifications are not essential but desirable (e.g., A-Levels, BTEC, Access to HE Diploma)
International students must demonstrate English proficiency via SELT

FUNDING

UK students may apply for Student Tuition Fee Loan (up to £6,350)
