Program Requirements

Applied Music is reserved for students intending to complete AA-T Music

Students are placed into one of seven MUS M30 Applied Music sections by primary instrument or voice type

Complete four consecutive semesters of Applied Music plus Music Theory, Musicianship, ensemble participation, and general education requirements

What's The Process

Audition Process

AA-T Music majors must apply and audition for Applied Music (MUS M30)

The audition supports placement into MUS M30B (Applied Music - Brass)

Auditions occur on the first Friday of each fall and spring term; the department contacts applicants after the form is submitted to schedule the live appointment

Audition Expectations

Prepare two contrasting selections of your choosing that best demonstrate proficiency on your primary instrument or voice

Prepare at a college-freshman level of proficiency

Be prepared to explain why you want to become a music major and understand the two-year full-time AA-T commitment

Demonstrate musicianship skills through sight-singing
