Audition Expectations
•Electronic files uploaded via the applicant portal
•Files can be submitted at the time of application or uploaded later
•Application is not considered complete until the audition is received
INSTRUMENTAL AUDITION (STRINGS, WINDS, BRASS, PERCUSSION, DRUM SET)
•Two scales (2 octaves if possible) plus chromatic scale
•Classical: two solo pieces demonstrating contrasting styles and tempos
•A substantial etude or single movement of a sonata/concerto may be used
•Jazz/Contemporary: one up-tempo tune and one ballad
•Include one improvised chorus within the up-tempo tune
•Drum set: mid-tempo rock groove, 16 bars each of Swing 4/4 and 3/4, Bossa Nova, and Shuffle (sticks), plus 16 bars Swing 4/4 (brushes)
