Training
•Theatre major develops theatre artists and engaged citizens through experiential opportunities, personal instruction, and intellectual inquiry
•Core study includes acting, script analysis, stagecraft, theatre design, directing, stage and theatre management, playwriting, theatre history, practicum, portfolio, and senior showcase
•Musical Theatre Ensemble and Theatre Ensemble courses perform productions in a variety of theatrical styles on campus, in the MVC area, and on tour
Performance & Productions
•Performance Improvisation requires multiple long-form improv performances on and off campus, with 1-2 troupes cast each year
•Advanced acting topics may include auditioning, period styles, dialects, stage combat, acting for the camera, and reader's theatre
•Electives include costume construction, children's theatre, musical theatre survey, technical/design workshops, dance, music, and internship options
Professional Development
•Theatre Portfolio and Senior Showcase capstone courses help students prepare and publicly present theatre work
•Internship coursework is available under college and cooperating-facility supervision
