Monologues

One Monologue from A Modern, Published Play

Must use a proven, published play; do not use your own material

Choose a character you identify with that allows for vocal and emotional variety and movement

Must be memorized

Use standard stage English; avoid accents and dialects

Avoid excessive strong language and profanity

No chairs, props, sitting, or kneeling

Select an audition date via the audition form

Audition time confirmed one week in advance

Record on phone or computer with camera at eye level

Upload to YouTube as unlisted

Audition Expectations

Theatre applicants prepare one monologue from a modern, published play

Choose material that shows your ability, range, and performing skills

Dress professionally and comfortably

Before performing, slate with your name and selection; for theatre pieces include character name, play title, and playwright

Do not include a synopsis, character description, or theme discussion in the slate
