All students must audition and receive music-faculty approval before pursuing the degree

The audition must be completed before or during the first week of classes

Admitted students take a music theory placement test at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

Transfer Pathway

The published St. Louis Community College guide maps music theory, applied piano, secondary instrument or voice, ensemble, and music-history coursework to the BM Music Performance curriculum; the Piano concentration still requires the MBU music audition.

What's The Process

Audition Format

Prepare two piano selections of contrasting styles, performed from memory, and a resume

Auditions are scheduled individually with the music faculty

Attire

More formal attire recommended

Dress pants, skirts, blouses, button-downs, polos

No sweatpants, flip-flops, or polarizing graphics

Video Auditions

If unable to attend in person, request to submit a video audition per the Music Information Packet
