All students must audition and receive music-faculty approval before pursuing the degree

The audition must be completed before or during the first week of classes

Placement

Admitted students take a music theory placement test at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

What's The Process

Audition Format

Brass, strings, and woodwinds: prepare two contrasting etudes plus the chromatic scale (full range) and major scales from memory

Percussion: prepare a short etude on snare drum, timpani, and a mallet instrument

Bring a resume

Auditions are scheduled individually with the music faculty

Attire

More formal attire recommended

Dress pants, skirts, blouses, button-downs, polos

No sweatpants, flip-flops, or polarizing graphics

If unable to attend in person, request to submit a video audition per the Music Information Packet
