Training
•BS in Music Engineering Technology pairs a required performance prescreen/audition on the applicant's principal instrument with a dedicated portfolio review of music/technology projects
•STEM-intensive degree housed in a school of music, requiring calculus, physics, C/C++ programming, and a required Electrical or Computer Engineering minor
•Curriculum covers transducer theory, digital audio theory, audio electronics, and audio software development, culminating in a Music Engineering Capstone Project
Professional Development
•A required internship (MUE 465) and four semesters of recital recording/sound-reinforcement practicum give students hands-on studio and live-sound experience before graduation
•Portfolio submissions are reviewed independently of the instrumental audition, so engineering/technical craft is judged on its own merits
Degree Flexibility
•Students choose between an Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering minor to shape the technical half of the degree toward hardware or software strengths
