Training
•BM in Vocal Performance requires two accompanied, memorized classical selections (one in English, one in another language) at prescreen, plus sight-reading and tonal-retention assessment at the live audition
•Department of Vocal Performance also offers a Dance minor and a Performer's Certificate in Vocal Performance for non-voice majors, and requires successful junior and senior recitals to graduate
•Students regularly perform large and small works with the Frost Chamber Music Program, the Frost Symphony Orchestra, the Frost Wind Ensemble, Frost Symphonic Winds, and the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra
Professional Development
•On-campus auditions include a Frost staff accompanist at no separate music-preparation cost beyond the $15 accompanist fee, so singers are evaluated with professional piano support
•Case-by-case approved virtual auditions (via computer only) give singers who cannot travel to Coral Gables a path to audition without losing the accompanied, memorized standard
Degree Flexibility
•Junior and senior recital requirements give Vocal Performance majors two formal, faculty-evaluated public performance milestones built into the degree plan
