Training
•BM in Instrumental Performance is offered across seventeen traditional instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, violoncello, double bass, guitar, and harp), grouped by Frost into Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion for audition purposes
•Students regularly perform large and small works with the Frost Chamber Music Program, the Frost Symphony Orchestra, the Frost Wind Ensemble, Frost Symphonic Winds, and the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra
•Degree plan is built for students pursuing a professional performance career at the highest levels, with the heaviest emphasis of any Frost degree on jury preparation, repertoire, pedagogy, ensemble performance, and individual private lesson instruction
Professional Development
•A prescreen video is required for every applicant; approved applicants audition live on campus following the requirements published for their specific instrument
Facilities
•Brass repertoire is set per instrument (Horn, Trombone, Trumpet, Euphonium, Tuba), each pairing standard concerto/etude repertoire with named orchestral excerpts
•Horn and Trombone applicants are evaluated on sight-reading at the live audition in addition to prepared repertoire, and Trombone applicants may confirm material directly with Professor Tim Conner
