Creative Sample

Present two different examples of your creative work at the Department of Theatre interview.

Designers, technicians, and stage managers should assemble a portfolio with at least two examples of creative work.

Examples may include creative writing, design sketches or renderings, choreography notation, artwork or production photos, character/process journals, drafting, prompt-book excerpts, original sound work, theatre research, films, or web pages.

What's The Process

Audition Process

Two-step process: apply to Miami University, then complete a creative-work presentation and interview with the Department of Theatre

Complete the review at a Department of Theatre admission event, during an individual campus visit, or over Zoom

Electronic submission is available through the Applicant Status Page as an alternative to a live presentation; a live on-campus presentation is strongly encouraged

Audition Expectations

Present two examples of creative work and discuss your choices and what excites you about the work

Performers present one monologue or one song (16-32 measures) plus one additional creative example

Singers should bring accompaniment on a phone; a Bluetooth speaker is available
