Portfolio

Portfolio of scores for at least two recent original compositions

Portfolio recordings encouraged where available (live recordings preferred, .mp3 accepted)

Electronic works that cannot be notated may be included in the portfolio in recorded form, without scores

Portfolio should show contrast in style and media

University application must be submitted first using the free online application

Placement

Admitted students take a music theory placement test at the audition — for course placement only, not admission

Eligibility

Fall and Spring enrollment available

FAFSA (school code 003297) required for need-based financial aid

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

Portfolio of completed works reviewed; bring hard copies of scores plus a CD or device-ready .mp3s to an in-person review

Applicants must show evidence of strong creative ability through completed works

Applicants should possess a well-developed ear and intermediate technique on at least one instrument

.mp3 files of live recordings or software graphics scores and .pdf score files may be emailed to dangelomusic@mercyhurst.edu

Theory Placement Test administered on the day of the review (no bearing on acceptance)
