Program Recognition
•Bachelor of Music with Elective Studies in an Outside Field — pairs conservatory-level applied guitar study with a formal outside-field concentration
•All degree programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music
•Minimum 60 required credits in the music major, plus 18 elective credits in a chosen outside field such as Business, English, Art, Communication, Psychology, or Theatre
Training
•Double credit hours awarded for applied guitar lessons starting sophomore year — "the most distinctive feature of this degree"
•Weekly private lessons from the first semester, plus weekly studio classes and weekly Recital Hour
•Attendance at 150 recitals required over the undergraduate years
•30-minute junior recital and 45-to-60-minute senior recital
•Pedagogy and literature coursework specific to guitar
Performance & Productions
•Participation in at least one ensemble each semester, with most students performing in more than one
•Instrumental ensembles include the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Harp Ensemble, and chamber groups
•Solo performance opportunities, main stage productions, and concert tours
•Fabian Concert Series performances alongside world-class musicians
