•Minor in Theater Arts awarded through the Music and Theater Arts Section of MIT's School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences
•Official minor requirements are maintained by the MIT registrar in the Institute catalog alongside the Course 21T major
Training
•Students choose one 12-unit foundation subject from Introduction to Acting, Physical Improvisation: Bodies in Motion, Fundamentals of Theater Design, Performance Media, Script Analysis, and Playwriting Fundamentals
•Five further elective subjects follow, giving 57-60 units of restricted electives and a 69-72 unit total inside Theater Arts
•Electives are assembled with the Theater Arts minor advisor as one coherent program rather than a fixed sequence
Degree Flexibility
•The minor is built so a student can either experiment across playwriting, acting, directing, and design or concentrate more deeply in a single discipline
•It attaches to any MIT major, so engineering and science students can carry a formal theater credential on the transcript
•Theater Arts also offers a HASS concentration and two major routes, so students can scale their commitment up or down inside the same department
