Program Recognition
•Bullet: Post-baccalaureate, non-degree certificate program for students who already hold a bachelor's degree in music or a closely related field and want professional certification as a music therapist
•Bullet: Housed in Marywood's Music, Theatre and Dance Department alongside the BM Music Therapy degree
Training
•Bullet: Includes all core music therapy coursework and clinical training required for board certification, plus any necessary related coursework such as abnormal psychology, typically completed across at least three semesters of academic study
•Bullet: Individual plan of study set in consultation with the Music Therapy Program Director, in alignment with American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) education and clinical-training standards
•Bullet: Considered an entry-level professional training route; most students register for and earn undergraduate credit, though some coursework may be taken for graduate credit
Clinical Training
•Bullet: Full-time internship of at least 900 hours of supervised clinical training, completed after all academic coursework is finished
Professional Development
•Bullet: Graduates are eligible to sit for the CBMT National Board Certification Examination for Music Therapists and earn the Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC) credential
•Bullet: Professional membership available through the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
