Audition Requirements

Songs

Two Contrasting Works

Perform two contrasting works on your primary instrument demonstrating technical skill and musicianship

Memorization of vocal audition pieces is strongly recommended for vocalists

Accompaniment is provided for vocal auditions; instrumental applicants perform unaccompanied

Apply through Common App or the Marywood direct application

University acceptance is required before audition scheduling

Credential

AMTA-approved curriculum leading to eligibility for the national board certification exam and the Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC) credential

Clinical training includes at least 180 pre-internship fieldwork hours and a supervised internship of at least 900 hours

Placement

Admitted students take a music theory and aural-skills placement assessment for course placement only, not admission

Music therapy majors must also pass a guitar proficiency examination during the program
