No audition is required for the initial application. The optional scholarship review (audition and interview) is separate from the internal audition gate students complete after enrollment.Gateway source

Music Major Voice Audition

Prepare three contrasting selections of the candidate's choice

Include at least one song in English

Include at least one sacred piece and at least one secular piece

Sing all selections from memory

The Office of Admissions can arrange an accompanist with at least two weeks' notice and copies of the music; this does not apply to online auditions

Audition Process

Music Scholarship candidates perform three selections before three or more music faculty and may audition in more than one area

Post-Enrollment

Maryville does not require admission directly into the BM Vocal Performance curriculum before enrollment

All entering music students complete Music Placement Hearings during Fall Orientation for course and ensemble placement

Music faculty confer admission to the specific major after MUS 102; students with advanced standing are reviewed after one semester at Maryville
