Music Major Voice Audition
•Prepare three contrasting selections of the candidate's choice
•Include at least one song in English
•Include at least one sacred piece and at least one secular piece
•Sing all selections from memory
•The Office of Admissions can arrange an accompanist with at least two weeks' notice and copies of the music; this does not apply to online auditions
Additional Materials
Letters of recommendation (scholarship)
•Provide letters of recommendation from qualified arts professionals for Fine Arts scholarship consideration
•Apply to Maryville College through the MaryVille Portal
•Maryville publishes no undergraduate application fee

What's The Process
Audition Process
•Students intending to pursue a music major or participate in an ensemble complete Music Placement Hearings during Fall Orientation before beginning study
•Music faculty confer admission to a specific music-major curriculum after MUS 102, or after one semester for advanced-standing students
•Music major auditions are judged by three or more music faculty members
•Candidates may audition in more than one area if they want to demonstrate breadth of talent

Music Scholarship
•Fine Arts scholarship application deadline: December 1
•Music Scholarship awards range from $500 to $5,000 per year
•One exceptional Music major recipient each year receives a full-tuition Music Scholarship
•Awards are based on audition performance, musical record, recommendations, and potential contribution to campus music culture
•Recipients participate in at least one music ensemble
