Admission Pathway
•Admitted students take music theory, aural-skills, and keyboard placement exams for course placement only — these do not affect admission
Program Requirements
•Band instrument (brass, woodwind, or percussion) as the principal applied instrument with individual instruction
•Major ensemble completed in Wind Symphony
•Recital attendance required each semester; departmental performance labs per applied area
•Eight semesters of major ensemble; junior recital (30+ min) and senior recital (50+ min) required
•Acceptance into the Performance degree is highly selective and confirmed by a qualifying examination at the end of the first year of study
Important Notes
•Music scholarships, performance grants, and service awards are competitive and require an accepted student with a submitted FAFSA
•Instrumental students engage and pay for their own accompanists for juries and recitals; applied-lesson fees apply each semester
