•Bullet: BM Music Education is part of MHU’s Teacher Education Program and prepares students for North Carolina Music K–12 teacher licensure (“A”).
Training
•Bullet: The Choral emphasis centers voice as a principal applied instrument and develops musicianship through University Choir, Chamber Singers, Opera Workshop, lyric diction, and advanced choral conducting.
•Bullet: The curriculum includes MUS 354 Advanced Choral Conducting, MUS 445 Choral Music Methods for grades 6–12, student-teaching coursework, and a senior solo recital before student teaching.
•Bullet: Seven semesters of major ensemble work and on-campus plus off-campus field experiences connect applied study with classroom practice.
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: Students perform in the MHU University Choir, Chamber Singers, Opera Workshop, and other departmental ensembles, alongside faculty and guest-artist recitals.
Professional Development
•Bullet: The program combines music education methods, conducting, vocal technique, and public-school field experience for future choral and general-music teachers.
