Apply to Mars Hill University through the university admissions office

Admission Pathway

Acceptance as a music major requires admission to the university plus approval by the music faculty following the entrance audition

Admitted students take music theory, aural-skills, and keyboard placement exams at orientation for course placement only; these do not affect admission

Program Requirements

Principal applied instrument chosen from voice, keyboard (organ or piano), or a band instrument (brass, woodwind, or percussion)

Eight semesters of major ensemble and recital attendance required

Senior recital of at least 30 minutes required

Important Notes

Music scholarships, performance grants, and service awards are competitive and require an accepted student with a submitted FAFSA

Applied-lesson and accompanist fees apply each semester and are not included in regular tuition

Transfer Pathway

MHU publishes Music–Instrumental, Music–Keyboard, and Music–Voice A.A.-to-B.A. plans, and NC A.A./A.S. transfers enter as juniors. The Department of Music still requires its entrance audition for formal admission to the major.
