Training
•The BFA in Theatre Performance is a 120-credit performance degree with a Musical Theatre concentration.
•Core study in voice and movement, acting, modern plays and musicals, and 21st Century Dance is paired with applied voice, theatre workshop, and performance ensemble.
•Musical Theatre students build a broad performer toolkit through jazz, Musical Theatre Dance Styles, choir, music theory, aural skills, Opera Workshop, and Class Piano.
Performance & Productions
•Students perform from the first semester in productions, workshops, showcases, and collaborative projects; MHU presents three to five productions each school year.
•The department sponsors Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre (SART), a professional summer theatre on campus, giving students access to a regional performance environment.
Professional Development
•Guest artists and working professionals contribute coaching in Broadway and regional theatre practice, stage combat, intimacy direction, Shakespeare, movement, and production collaboration.
•Coursework and recurring stage work build audition technique, ensemble skills, and preparation for professional theatre, graduate study, and educational theatre.
