Repertoire List
•Prepare two pieces from four choices, selecting from different categories.
•Popular/contemporary piece (rock, blues, country, pop) of about 2 minutes, played along to the original recording.
•Jazz standard from the posted list (e.g., Autumn Leaves, Blue Monk, Take the A Train): perform the melody, a walking bass line through the changes, and a simple improvised solo over a backing track.
•Transcription of a jazz bass solo, minimum 24 bars, played along to the original recording.
•Short classical study, etude or piece (e.g., Simandl, Bach Cello Suites), approximately 20-40 bars, no backing track.
•Repertoire and technique requirement: major scales in the specified keys and octaves, ascending and descending at a moderate even tempo.
•Repertoire and technique requirement: major, minor, major 7, dominant 7, minor 7, minor 7(b5) and diminished 7 arpeggios in the specified keys and octaves.
•Repertoire and technique requirement: play a walking bass line over the F 12-bar blues progression; note choice, sound, feel and time feel are evaluated.
Video
•Required for online auditions: submit two video files, one performance video and one technical video.
•Video recordings must be unedited one-take performances.
•Video file names should identify the applicant, performance or technical file, year and instrument.
