Audition Requirements

Dance

IN-PERSON AUDITION

Ballet and modern dance sequences taught during audition day
Dress in form-fitting dance attire and appropriate dance shoes

VIDEO AUDITION

Submit a BALLET FOUNDATIONS VIDEO
Submit a 2-MINUTE SOLO VIDEO in any style
-Must be choreographed (by yourself or someone else)
-Any technique or style
-Maximum 2 minutes — only first 2 minutes will be reviewed if longer

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Required for both in-person and video applicants
Submitted as part of Submittable application

Step 1: Apply for admission to Loyola University Chicago
Step 2: Submit audition application via Submittable
Admission to the Dance major is contingent on university admission

AUDITION OPTIONS

In-Person: Saturday, February 14, 2026 on Lakeshore Campus
Video: Submit materials by March 1, 2026
Both options require a 2-minute solo video and personal statement via application

RE-AUDITION

Students not initially accepted may re-audition the following spring
Many students focus on ballet technique during freshman year and join the major as sophomores
