Program Recognition
•The LASC Experimental Theatre Laboratory was selected to present at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Region 8
•Evans is a Nicholl Fellowship semi-finalist (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) with professional touring credits in Will Rogers Follies, Crazy for You, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
•Through an alliance Evans built between LASC and the Amazing Grace Conservatory, one or two AGC students join the Lab's festival team each year
Training
•Curriculum builds skills across acting, design, stage management, theater history, playwriting, and technical production
•Coursework spans Introduction to Theater, History of World Theater, Playwriting, Play Production, Voice and Articulation for the Theater, and Beginning through Intermediate Acting
•Led by Jonathan Pope Evans, Associate Professor of Theatre (MFA, Theatre and Film Directing, California Institute of the Arts), who trained two summers in Poland in Jerzy Grotowski's physical theatre method
•Program outcomes include performing monologues, scenes, and plays with attention to style and vocal pattern; executing lighting, sound, and prop production functions; and writing an original one-act play
Performance & Productions
•Students can join the LASC Experimental Theatre Laboratory, which devises original social-justice theatre in South Central Los Angeles
•The Lab wrote, directed, and produced "Criminal," an original piece on the 1955 murder of Emmett Till, the history of lynching, and parallels to modern-day mass incarceration

•State-of-the-art on-campus theater used for rehearsals and productions
•LASC-provided internships build career connections and community ties before graduation
