•Bullet: The 120-credit BM is a joint program with LIU's education school and prepares students for New York State Initial Teaching Certification from birth through grade 12
•Bullet: The Choral specialization uses Secondary Choral Music Methods alongside music-teaching methods, conducting, theory, aural skills, history, applied voice, ensembles, and research-based pedagogy
•Bullet: The revised curriculum adds a four-course music-technology sequence covering digital production, audio editing, sequencing, recording and sampling, mixing, notation software, and digital-audio workstations
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: Students take one-to-one studio lessons, participate in ensembles, and can join tours, workshops and master classes
•Bullet: LIU highlights access to New York-area music professionals and activities tied to Tilles Center for the Performing Arts
Professional Development
•Bullet: Field-based experiences and PreK–16 partnerships connect coursework to local schools and community music programs
•Bullet: Students complete a senior recital followed by supervised student teaching and study strategies for urban, inclusive, and special-learner classrooms
