Audition Process
•Audition required to enter Applied Lessons (Music 92AD) as a music major - this is not required for admission to LBCC
•All students may take general music courses and join many ensembles without being admitted to Applied Lessons
•Auditions are held at the beginning and end of each semester, with possible additional spring dates
General Requirements
•Perform two songs, instrumental excerpts, or short pieces of contrasting style
•Complete pitch-matching, sing a short melody, and clap a short rhythm
•Accompanist provided - bring copies of your music
Classical Vocalists
•Two songs - one in English and one in another language, with Italian, German, or French preferred
Classical Instrumentalists
•Two pieces, excerpts, or movements in contrasting styles
Classical Percussionists
•Two pieces or excerpts, preferably mallets and snare or timpani
Jazz Vocalists/Instrumentalists
•Two jazz standards
•One medium to up-tempo swing with vocal improvisation
•One ballad or slow Bossa Nova
Jazz Percussionists
•One solo excerpt
•Demonstrate standard jazz beat patterns, including Latin
