Backing track acceptable if live accompaniment unavailable

Two Contemporary Monologues

Alternative: self-devised or choreographed dance/movement piece (max 5 min)

If performing dance piece, bring your own portable music system and speaker

Any gender monologues accepted

Application Logistics

Apply directly to LAMDA through the course page (applications open Autumn 2026)

No UCAS required for postgraduate courses

If applying to multiple LAMDA courses, email admissions@lamda.ac.uk

Eligibility

Must be 21 or older

Undergraduate degree or relevant professional experience that has prepared you for advanced Musical Theatre study; no minimum degree classification is required

Non-native speakers need no English test to apply (English is assessed at auditions and interviews); if offered a place, the course page requires a UKVI-approved SELT at CEFR B2 or higher, while LAMDA's international applicants page says approximately IELTS 7.0, so confirm with admissions

What's The Process

Audition Process

UK/international first round is a self-tape; submit within 14 days of the admissions email

Submit two musical theatre songs with accompaniment where possible plus a 3-minute video introduction

LAMDA may request a dance follow-up self-tape before confirming a recall invitation

UK/international recalls are held in person in London; final recall may carry an extra fee

LAMDA's How to Apply page also says UK and international applicants may be invited to a second preliminary audition on Zoom, while its audition process page and FAQ describe every stage after the self-tape as in person

North America applicants audition in person across the US and Toronto in January-February 2027

North America Musical Theatre recalls are held in New York City; the course page lists UK and international recall fees as to be confirmed and gives no North America recall fee amount

MT-only North America applicants prepare two unaccompanied songs plus either two contemporary monologues or a devised/learned dance or movement piece

Applicants applying for Musical Theatre and Acting prepare one unaccompanied musical theatre song in addition to acting monologues

Decisions

Results are usually shared within 2-3 weeks after recall

US Federal Direct Loans cover eligible full-time postgraduate courses lasting a year or more
