Monologues
TWO CONTRASTING CLASSICAL MONOLOGUES
•One from LAMDA's Classical Monologue List (max 3 min)
•One classical speech of your choice (max 2 min)
GUIDELINES
•Monologues must be from different plays
•Any gender monologues accepted
•You may edit text but ensure it flows as a standalone speech
•LAMDA prefers work prepared without outside help

•Record your two contrasting classical monologues
•North American applicants audition in person instead

NORTH AMERICA FIRST ROUND
•Two monologues from different plays
•One must be from an Elizabethan or Jacobean text
•One must be from LAMDA's Classical Monologue List
•MA applicants may not need recall — may submit follow-up self-tape instead

•No UCAS required for postgraduate courses

What's The Process
PRESCREEN (UK/INTERNATIONAL)
•Self-tape submission — 14 days from admissions email to submit link with password
•If successful, invited to in-person workshop (London, Newcastle, Manchester, Belfast)
•Possible second workshop, then final recall in-person at LAMDA
•Extra fee applies for final recall
FIRST ROUND (NORTH AMERICA)
•In-person auditions across US and Toronto (Jan-Feb 2026)
•Classical Acting Course Leader present at NYC dates Jan 23-25
•MA applicants may not need recall — may submit follow-up self-tape instead
ADDITIONAL MT OPTION
•If also interested in MA/MFA Musical Theatre, prepare one unaccompanied 16-bar MT song excerpt
ELIGIBILITY
•Must be 21 or older
•BA/BFA degree or equivalent vocational experience required
•Knowledge and interest in classical texts and verse/prose speaking expected
•Non-native English speakers need IELTS 7.0
