Monologues

Requirements

Two contrasting monologues

One monologue from LAMDA's Classical Monologue List (maximum 3 minutes)

One contemporary speech of your choice (maximum 2 minutes)

Guidelines

Each monologue must work as a standalone piece

Text may be edited if the result flows as a complete speech

Prepare the work without outside direction

Monologues may be written for any gender

Be ready to perform the prepared monologues live

The panel may redirect the pieces or ask for additional exercises

North America

Prepare two contemporary monologues, each no longer than 3 minutes

Have additional monologues ready in case the panel requests them

Application Logistics

UK and international applicants normally apply through UCAS

US-based applicants apply directly to LAMDA

The 2026 UCAS fee was £27.50 for up to six choices

The first-round audition fee was £15; North America in-person auditions were £88

Pathways Programme members apply directly to LAMDA and receive a first-round audition fee waiver

Eligibility

Minimum age is 18

No academic qualifications are required

Applicants must be fluent English speakers

Qualification

Six-month course beginning in September

Awards a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education

Includes acting, voice, movement, singing, screen acting, devising, and production and technical arts

What's The Process

Uk & International Process

First round is a self-tape submitted within 14 days of the admissions email

Successful applicants may be invited to an in-person workshop and then a final recall

Recall details are sent approximately two to three weeks in advance

North America Process

First round is an in-person audition during LAMDA's North America tour

Successful applicants attend an in-person recall in Los Angeles or New York

No additional North America recall fee
