Monologues

Stage One Self-Tape

Contemporary speech from a play written after 2000, no longer than 2 minutes

Verse speech, no longer than 2 minutes

Verse may include Shakespeare, contemporary verse, spoken word, classical/performance poetry, or song lyrics

Additional Materials

Identifier

State your name and titles of the three pieces

Performance Piece

One performance piece of choice, no longer than 2 minutes

May show singing, movement, physical theatre, musical instrument skills, self-created work, or filmmaking/screen skills

Submission Form

Combine identifier and three pieces into one video file

Upload to YouTube/Vimeo as an unlisted link and keep viewable until 31 August 2027

Upload completed submission form to LIPA applicant portal within 10 working days of invitation

Recall Speeches

Be ready to perform the contemporary and verse speeches submitted for Stage One

Panel may work with one, two, or all submitted speeches

UK in-person recall includes a speeches workshop and may include redirection

Additional Materials

Recall Day

Wear comfortable clothing for warm-up/workshop

Bring a packed lunch for in-person recall

Short informal interview/conversation with the panel may be included

Stage 1: Submit UCAS application

Stage 2: Invited candidates submit a self-tape — guidelines provided after application review

Stage 3: Strongest candidates invited to recall audition

UK applicants: In-person in Liverpool

International: Virtual auditions available, or in-person in Hong Kong (March), Norway (March), USA (January–February)

Decision within 10 working days of audition

No audition fee

Travel grants available for eligible UK applicants

Candidates may also be considered for Contemporary Performance, Screen & Digital, or Foundation Acting
